How does the random color wheel pick a color?
Each of the twelve colors gets an equal slice, and the winner is chosen with the browser Web Crypto API before the wheel animates. Every color has a 1 in 12 chance, about 8.3%.
Can I use this to pick a hair color or paint color?
It picks a color family, not a specific product. Spin for the family, then use the hex value as a starting point. For a shortlist of real products, paste their names into the custom wheel builder instead.
How many colors should a wheel have?
Up to about twelve segments stay readable at a glance. Beyond that, labels shrink and neighbouring hues blur together, so favour fewer segments with clearly different colors over a long rainbow.
Which colors work best on a projector?
Saturated mid-tone colors with dark or white text on top. Avoid pale pastels and avoid putting two similar hues next to each other, because projector contrast is much lower than a laptop screen.
